The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (Vic Branch) is seeking an experienced OHS Officer to join our team.

This position requires an individual who is committed to promoting safety and has a thorough, demonstrated understanding of Australian safety legislation.
About the OHS Officer role
As an OHS Officer you will work alongside a team of OHS professionals to assist an industrial professional (IP) team with providing expertise and guidance in OHS matters impacting our members.
- You will advise, and partner with industrial staff, ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ (Vic Branch) Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ members in relation to occupational health and safety matters including occupational violence and aggression matters, workers compensation, return to work and fitness for work.
- You will assist with developing and implementing policy and programs in a team environment to pro-actively prevent and manage occupational injuries and illness amongst ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ members.
- You will assist in the development, co-ordination and delivery of OHS conferences and seminars.
- You will conduct workplace inspections and audits and make WorkSafe service requests.
- You will actively recruit and educate HSRs in the workplace.
- You will represent the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ in relevant forums on OHS and Workcover matters as directed and participate in Branch activities designed to improve member services and employment conditions, particularly health and safety.
- Availability to travel regionally (within Victoria)
Key Selection Criteria
- You hold tertiary or vocational qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety.
- You have an understanding of OHS and workers compensation legislation, standards and practices.
- You have experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Workers Compensation and occupational rehabilitation/return to work. Experience in Workcover conciliation is also desirable.
- You have experience in providing quality member service and demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships.
- You are a strong team member who brings a positive attitude and enthusiasm and a continuous improvement mindset.
- You have a passion for representing the interests of and improving the working conditions of our members who are nurses, midwives and personal care workers.
- You hold a current Victorian Driver’s License.
The remuneration package includes:
- Full time annual salary: $128,097
- 17% superannuation
